Patterns of Evidence: Exodus

There is a documentary that came out back in 2014 called Patterns of Evidence: Exodus. I came across it in 2016, and immediately fell in love with it. So much so that I actually bought the DVD (which was stolen along with everything else I owned back in 2017, but that’s a long story).

It is about a filmmaker, Timothy Mahoney, attempting to use archeological evidence to prove the historicity of the biblical Exodus. The film features interviews leading archeologists and scholars, as well as both the president and the prime minister of Israel.

One thing I loved about the film was that it was definitely not one-sided. You hear multiple viewpoints, some even flat-out denying the Exodus even occurred. The film also does a great job of showing fulfill ignorance, as found in scripture. At one point, they are presenting text describing the plagues from an Egyptian’s perspective, and the expert says something to the effect of, “This didn’t actually happen, they simply imagined it”. An eyewitness account of the plague that matches the Bible, but “they imagined it”.

If you want to see it for yourself, you can buy a copy of the DVD from their website. Or you can do like I just did a rent it on YouTube. However you choose to watch it, please go support these people. They’re doing an awesome job at what they do!

A sequel, Patterns of Evidence: The Moses Controversy, was released earlier this year. I’ve yet to watch it, but I also rented that on YouTube. I will watch it and post my thoughts on it tomorrow night.

(I forgot about this until I was getting ready to post this, and didn’t know where to slide it in, so I’ll just add it to bottom. The film is narrated by Kevin Sorbo!)

Catholicism [updated]

Romans 16:17 (KJV)

17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (KJV)

13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Revelation 13:8 (KJV)

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Matthew 23:9 (KJV)

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV)

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Catholicism is, if you couldn’t surmise from the verses I listed above, a false religion. In Mark 7:6-9, Jesus talks about people who teach the doctrines of men instead of the Commandment of God. What the Catholic Church teaches is doctrine of man. Catholics believe that you can pray someone into Heaven after they die. Prayer of the Dead. This goes contrary to what the Bible teaches. Luke 16:19-31 proves that once you die, your eternal fate has been set.

As Bible.org says: “Praying for the dead is not a biblical concept. Our prayers have no bearing on someone once they have died. At that point their eternal future is confirmed. Either they are saved through faith in Christ and are in God’s presence where they are experiencing rest and the joy of being in His presence, or they are in hell or torments.

Jesus says to “call no man father“, yet their priests are called “father”. The Pope is called “holy father”.

Revelation 19:10 (KJV)

10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

The Catholics worships Mary. As GotQuestions.org says, “There is nothing wrong with honoring Mary as the earthly mother of Jesus. The Bible describes Mary as “highly favored” by God (Luke 1:28). At the same time, there is no instruction in the Bible to revere those whom have gone to Heaven. We are to follow their example, yes, but worship, revere, or venerate, no!” Nowhere in scripture does it tell us to pray to or worship anyone else but God.

Catholics believe in Purgatory, which is where they believe you go after you die to cleanse the sins that weren’t cleansed on Earth. Meaning that according to Catholic belief, Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross wasn’t good enough, you have to suffer yourself to be cleansed of your own sins. this goes against everything that the Bible teaches. It’s made very clear that Jesus died for everyone, and for all sins.

The Catholic Church reads in Latin. While this may not sound like a big deal, there’s actually a verse that forbids praying and teaching in an unknown language.

Catholics look up to the pope for guidance, and they pray to him, kiss his ring, and consider him the earthly messenger of God (who was voted in by a counsel of humans). This, of course, goes against everything Jesus taught. In fact, Jesus forbade such a figure. It’s made very clear that Jesus is the head of the Church. Also, Catholics claim that Peter was the first pope. However, there is no biblical evidence of this, nor that Peter ever even went to Rome.

Catholics worship the crucifix, among other “holy” objects. Yet there is a certain one of the Ten Commandments that the Catholics need to reread.

Exodus 20:4 (KJV)

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

The Catholic Church canonizes saints.  But the Bible calls everyone who is a follower of Christ a saint.

Catholics attend mass daily to offer up “sacrifice” every day. But the bible clearly states that Jesus’ sacrifice was the only one that we shall ever need.

Rosaries are a pagan ritual.

There is a long list of other proofs that Catholicism is a false religion.

So what does the falsehoods of Catholicism have to do with the Fig Tree Reborn? All throughout the Bible, there is prophesied a false religion that will rise up that will claim to be the one true church of Christ, but really be blasphemous. this religion will be the basis of a one-world religion. there is more than enough evidence that points to Catholicism being the false religion mentioned in the Bible. Pope Francis will be the final pope. I shall end this here, with the words of Mary, proving she is not the one to be worshiped.

Luke 1:46-49 (KJV)

46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. 48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. 49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

[update]
This post seems to upset people more than any other post I’ve done. I’ve had people claim I’m saying that their Catholic relatives who have passed on are burning in hell because they were Catholic. I did not say that. So I feel this post warrants an update, to clarify…
As I pointed out in this post, the only thing that really matters between each denominations is that you accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Catholics do believe that Jesus is the Messiah. But a large part of their religion is added to and goes against Scripture. Like graven images, praying to saints, and everything about the Vatican.
But not everyone who calls themselves Catholic pray to saints or considers the pope valid. So it’s still possible to be Catholic and be saved. Just I’d be careful which traditions you practice if you choose to go that route.
